Board of Election offices across the State and across America are working with Local,State and Federal Information Security agencies to safeguard your vote.
As registered voters you play a very important role in the defense of our Election rights.
If you have been or feel you might be a victim of identity theft, visit your Local Board of Elections Office and verify your registration information
Exercise your right to vote regularly and do not let anyone discourage you from voting. Take the opportunity to vote in the Primaries. Should you encounter an issue and are told your registered information is not correct or you have been reported as already voted, contact your Board of Elections Office.
On Election Day, always verify Social Media information with a trusted news source. If reports of problems with your local election polling place surfaces on Social Media, contact your Board of Elections to determine if that information is accurate.

• Do not respond to any phone call or text message offering to register you over the phone;
• Do not provide personal information over the phone or via text message;
• New York State does not allow voter registration by phone;
• If you are not registered to vote, print out and complete a voter registration form.

ALBANY, NY (10/11/2018) (readMedia)– ALBANY, N.Y. (October 10, 2018) – The New York State Board of Elections is warning the public to be aware that scammers are contacting residents via phone calls and text messages to attempt to gain personal information. So far, the scam phone calls and texts have originated from the 607 area code and have been reported in Chemung and Steuben Counties.
The New York State Board of Elections offers the following tips:
• Do not respond to any phone call or text message offering to register you over the phone;
• Do not provide personal information over the phone or via text message;
• New York State does not allow voter registration by phone;
• Check if you are registered to vote at: https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov/.
• If you are not registered to vote, print out and complete a voter registration form.

The deadline to register to vote in the November 6, 2018 general election is October 12, 2018. You can submit a voter registration form in-person at your local Board of Elections or put it in the mail no later than October 12, 2018.
