Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

The current aim of the Schoharie County GIS Committee is to develop a countywide GIS that will consist of a centrally located server that stores countywide data. The data located on this server can be created by county departments, municipalities, or outside sources, but will most likely be updated by county personnel who utilize the GIS. The data stored on this server will be assessed by the GIS Committee for content, and using security methods some data will be available for public viewing using a simple web browser.

Current GIS work consists of:
Creating an inventory of all County Geographic Data
Updating municipalities’ zoning maps
Road Inventory to analyze updating strategies, culvert maintenance, etc
