The Registrar of Vital Statistics for the Town of Schoharie has two primary responsibilities:

1)The recording of any births or deaths that occur in the Town.
2)Providing copies of records of births and deaths that occurred in the Town.

Note: The Town Clerk keeps marriage information.

The third part of the job, that is to assist those that are doing genealogical research. Of course, all three areas are covered by New York State Department of Health guidelines that must be strictly adhered to.

In general, the cost of a birth or death certificate is $10.00. The cost of uncertified copies done for genealogical purposes can vary depending on the number of years searched.
